J. W. GOETHE, Viaggio in Italia, Torino 1965

(We passed in front of Limone, with its gardens and terraces up the slope of the mountains; a spectacle of wealth and grace. The entire garden consists of rows of white square pillars that are placed at a certain distance from each other, up the slope of the mountain, in steps. Above these pillars are placed sturdy poles to cover, in winter, the trees that grow in the intervals. The slowness of the crossing favoured the observation and contemplation of this pleasant spectacle.)

The story of Limone is linked to that of its Limonaie and the lemon production from the first half of the 15th Century A.D. Theese magnificent lemon gardens, the Limonaie, are still present in the area of Limone: some of them have been recently restored and can be visited, such as the Limonaia del Castèl.  The Limonaie are one of a kind since they have been found only in the area between Limone and Gargnano.

Moreover, Limone sul Garda offers different museums, i.e. Museum for Tourism, Museum of Fishing, Exhibition of the Extravirgin Olive Oil, Tesöl Comboni Centre with its Museum of Curiosities.

There are also many cosy churches to be visited, such as San Pietro, San Rocco and San Carlo, and the parish church of San Benedetto. Events and festivals animate the town from April to October.
