Lake Garda

I sat and looked at the lake. It was beautiful as paradise, as the first creation.

I sat and looked at the lake. It was beautiful as paradise, as the first creation. On the shores were the ruined lemon-pillars standing out in melancholy, the clumsy, enclosed lemon-houses seemed ramshackle, bulging among vine stocks and olive trees. The villages, too, clustered upon their churches, seemed to belong to the past. They seemed to be lingering in bygone centuries.

D.H.Lawrence, Twilight in Italy, 1916

Lake Garda, originally named Benaco, is the biggest lake in Italy and offers a great variety of natural landscapes and historical sites. Its mild climate and rich vegetation made of secular olive trees, palms and oleanders, lemon and cedar trees guarded in the old Limonaie, together with the many historical and cultural witnesses, offer unforgettable moments to be lived to the fullest.
